"Savion Glover? Who's that?"

AHHHHHH this week simply could not be any better. A week of Aruba was enough to make it amazing, but now this? Somebody pinch me! No wait, don't, I don't wanna wake up yet...

Yesterday me and my family went to go see "Bring in da Noise Bring in da Funk" with Savion Glover at the PAC center. I got a lot of different responses when I told people this, but the majority of them were something along the lines of "Who's he?". He is, in my opinion and many others, the greatest tap dancer of our generation. He's just amazing. So anyway the show was really really good-- it shows the african's struggle in America, but mostly it shows how the rhythm and the beat grew up, like from slavery to the movies in the 50s to today when its all about the hoofing (don't know what it is? look it up). My favorite part in the entire thing was when the stage was black except for Savion and three mirrors, and all it was was a recording of him making a speech about all of his idols, like Buster Brown (RIP), Jimmy Slyde, and all those great guys-- and while it was playing savion was just dancing, not looking at the audience, no doing huge steps to impress, just making a beat with his feet (and sweating buckets might I add).

Okay so as if the show wasn't enough to make my day (or week for that matter) (or month for that matter), afterwards my mom wanted to go find the stage door so we did... there was a security guard outside of it but he would occasionaly let people in, like family members and idk VIPs i guess. So finally my mom said to him, "Can we go in too?" and he said "well ive been opening the door all night, and u haven't snuck in yet... and i'm only gunna open it one more time..." and he let us in! so then u walk through this back alley and go through two glass doors and there were about 15 people there waiting for Savion to come out and he did and I got him to sign a t-shirt for me and he signed my tap shoes AND he took a picture with me! I touched his shoulder!

I gotta give credit to the other people in the show too. There was this one boy, 12 years old but keeping up with the rest of them like nobody's business. And the show wasn't all tapping, there were these two guys who played drums like they were insane... only they didn't use drums: They used just about everything else tho. When I say everything, I mean everything: Frying pans, pots, bowls, the scenery, the taps of the dancers when they kicked up their feet, plastic buckets (you know, like the guys that sit on the streets in NYC use?)... They were crazy. Then you got Diana Walker as Da Voice who's voice is one of the most amazing voices that I have ever heard. Me and my mom saw her when we went into the city for that tap festival.

SO yeah. Amazing. Pinch me.

Aw man now I have to go to school...

I said pinch me, don't torture me!

Homecoming Hell

I think I finally figured out why I don't want to go to homecoming this year. For those of you that don't know the story, I was going to go and i even got a dress, then I decided that I really didn't want to and found out that almost all of my close friends didn't want to that much either, so we all made plans to do something that night, but now they all want to go (not that I blame them or anything, I'm sure that it will be fun) and I'm still not going. And here's why:

I always used to look foward to these sorts of things. Homecomings, Bar Mitzvahs, Dances, Parties... My expectations were always high and I always wanted to just be there and have a good time. But when I really stop to think about it, when have any of these events ever made a difference in my life? Parties have come and gone, and they were fun, but I can live without them. Same with Bar-mitzvahs; Everyone goes looking to have a great time, looking foward to it for a whole week, but when was the last time that something really life-changing happened? Thats not the whole reason I'm not going, though... what it all boils down to is the fact that I know, going or not, I'm going to sit here at home for the next week or so and think about all of the amazing things that could happen, all of the fun that I could have... But if i go, its not like any of these things ever happen. So I'd be so much better off just thinking about these things and wondering if they could, sort of dreaming that they were possible although i know they could never be realities. If I go, I'll just be let down and disapointed like always, not that it will even matter in a month, in a week, even in a day. People always say "yes it was a bad experience, but don't worry, in a little while you'll forget all about it!" So why even put myself through it? Depressing I know, but hey

meet the real allie.

Headache

My head hurts. I think I'm actually sick but I can't be, u know? Like I gotta go to school tomorrow cause i got tests and all that. Just warning everyone, dont get too close! :-/

Physically, I do have a headache, but even if I weren't sick I would have a headache from all the things I've had to think about lately. Like mostly I think about how I'm going to have to make up my mind between a summer of Dance or a summer of camp. On one hand, I would love to stay in a city for a couple of weeks and do all the workshops I've been wanting to... On the other hand, I want to see my camp friends, I would love being a councelor, and I just can't leave camp! Arg its like the hardest decision that I've had to make in a long time and I still can't make it. I gotta make a pros and cons list:-p.

HOW ANNOYING ARE THOSE RED FOAMY PADDLE THINGS THAT THE ANEHIEM FANS BANG TOGETHER? I just want to grab them out of their hands and pound their heads with them!

Sorry for the violent outburst there...

Leave a Comment and I'll analyze u lol, it was in a book that me sam lis and mel read yesterday--
u gotta say the first thing that pops into your mind btw, and u have to visualize it too. Oh, and don't try to think about what it means, just tell me what you see.

Okay, so you're walking along and you've been walking all day and you're really hungry. Then you see this patch of strawberries on the side of the path. They look really good... the only thing between you and the strawberries is a fence. How tall is the fence? What kind of fence is it?
You decide to go and get the strawberries... How many, if any, do you take?
You've finished eating/not eating the strawberries and the farmers comes out of the house and asks you what you were doing. What do you say, or what excuse do you use? Or do you just run?
Looking back on the whole experience, how did those strawberries taste? And how do you feel now that the farmer caught you eating them?

Lol i thought that the answers were really cool, so leave a comment with yours and I'll tell ya what it means.

Follow Your Feet

Hey guys, its a three day weekend! Yesterday I went out for pizza with jeff, lisa and kenny and then we went back to lisa's and played ping pong and some racing game-- i sucked but i actually won like one race. then that night i babysat shane and kayla, and we played model and it was cute -- they're a lot of fun to babysit for. Then they actually wanted to go to sleep early cause they were tired, so i went downstairs and watched a movie (When Harry Met Sally: good movie). Thats about it so far, today I'm all alone in my house cause my sister's at a batmitz and my mom and dad are at a funeral... so I might actually resort to doing some homework or cleaning the house for some brownie points... SAVE ME!
~allie

Party~! x2

K its sunday morning now and I just got back from my second party of the weekend, Marisa's Sweet 16. It was the absolute best ever-- I mean the actually party was good, like the decorations and the theme and junk, but the people there were AMAZING. Like I got to see just about all of my camp friends and I missed them sooo much! And I got to see all of my HH friends who I've also missed...I also got to see Marisa's cousins who I haven't seen since her bm and they are really hot.

I was like reminiscing about camp the whole time though! Like we did the cosmic girl dance that we did at the junior dance at camp and it was just awesome. I miss all of you guys ! Supposedly theres going to be a thing at Conor's soon, and you all know that you're welcome in Pleasntville any time! Seriously, I'll have you guys over one day--maybe in the spring so that we can go swimming or something.

So after that crazy, crazy weekend, I'm back at home sitting at my computer, debating whether to clean my room ro do my homework or take a nap. Actually, i think I'm going ot eat some lunch first. So I'll talk to you all later, and see most of you tomorrow @ school.

Oh one last thing, I'm going to post the camp slideshow up again cause I know that a lot of you didn't get to see it: so I'll put it up and get the link and then put it in here, k? Great!

Party~!

Hey everyone, I just got back from Caity's party and it was even more fun than I thought that it would be! I got to hang out with so many people that I haven't really seen at this year, plus I met some new people too, and some people that I completely forgot that I even knew to begin with!
It started out pretty slowly but really picked up when people went inside and took out the guitars, then I was a lot of fun. Me and Jason had a gobstopper stuffing-your-mouth contest that ended in a tie somewhere inbetween 25 and 30 gobstoppers...I could have kept going i swear! But I was afraid that one was going to slip into my throat and choke me which would have totally ruined the night.
Afta that, I went outside with Pete and Jason and we were all dancing (you feel so free! hehe) and then we had a sword fight with the empty soda bottles from the party and a milk carton. Then I went around in the back and saw mel and sam on the trampoline and joined them for a while, but sam went inside so me and mel were just talking for a little while, it was really nice. Then I thought it started to rain, and pete came by the trampolene and then it started to POUR omg it was really really bad and first we had to find my shoes (that pete had actually had the whole time, you jerk!) and then run around the house and into the garage with about 40 other people trying to stay out of the rain... I ended up going back outside for a little though, but then I was really cold so i hung out inside. Then sam's dad came to pick us up and thats it!:-)

Anyway, it was a really awesome party--- the kind where u just sorta hang out with your friends and do whatever you want. Marisa's party is tomorrow and that is going to be awesome too, I can't wait to see all of my friends from HH and expecially from MASON! wow I miss camp so much... but I won't' get into that:-p
K so i better actually get some sleep tonight as opposed to last night when I spent the whole night doing homework for Garber. I will DEFINATLEY remember to take her advice next time and not leave the entire sheet for one night. G'night everyone!

Don't like dance? Don't read this!

So I'm sitting at home at my computer and I realized that I haven't written in my livejournal in a while. I really don't have anything all that terrific to say, so I'll just give you guys an update about whats going on for me. Dance started on thursday for me, thank g0d, its my relief lol. Lyrical was good, its weird not being in lisa's class though cause we have been for like the last 3 years and when we were little and it was a lot of fun- she definatley deserved to be moved up though, she's really a great dancer. And my class is fun, i know some people in it and i can tell that we're going to have a good time. I took my first jazz class on thursday too, and I've only done jazz one year before and that was like 5 years ago, but i gotta say that this class totally rocks. Its just this really laid back atmosphere and the teacher is really really cool -- very hiphop-y. Its fun, and I can really get into it. My tap classes start on monday (woohoo!) and anyone that has even just met me knows that tap is my bag baby. So I really can't wait for those to start-- the first one is your average tap class, but i got into a really good level this year, i think its either the highest or the second highest, but no matter which it is its really good. The second tap class I'm taking is right after that and its this scholarship class named "Tap Apprentice". My school started a new tap company called "Kids on Tap" and this class basically teaches the dances that the company is performing, and then it sorta seeds kids from my class into the company as they're needed... it sounds like fun and its a free class cause you have to be invited into it so I'm really excited.

Okay I really was going to update you guys on every aspect of my life, but once I get started talking about dance, i can't stop-- and now my fingers are tired! So you'll just have to wait for my next entry to actually see something worth reading:-p. Good Night!

Oh wait actually one more thing: There was this song on the radio when I was coming home from the mall today and its really good-- its a dance song, upbeat, kinda old -- it goes "bounce, c'mon bounce" and then theres this lady in the background going "Bibidu-ah, bihbidopadibbidop, bibiduah, biddidop-dip-dop, bibiduah, bihbidopadibbidop, bob-a-doo-ay..." hehe yeah something a lot like that. Does anyone know what song I'm talking about, and if you do, what its called or who its by? Leave a comment PLEASE!

Journal Reflection

Last week lisa told me that she was reading my entire journal and that made me want to read it to, so thats exactly what i did. That was a lot of fun, reading over my past year. But last night I was thinking and I felt like writing in my actual journal, so thats what I did. Then I read over everything I've written in that, and guys, that was really an experience. It's really weird how I wrote with such passion about one thing, and looking back it wasn't nearly as important as i thought. Or I wrote poems that held so much meaning and now hold no meaning in my eyes. I guess that I've changed more than I've even had time to realize. So THEN I got even more into it and read into my journal from 7th and 8th grade... I was a completely different person then too! It's almost like I've evolved... I don't know if its for the better or worse, but my perspective on life has changed so much just throughout these past 3 years. I had really low lows, and really high highs, and its just weird to be reading over it. Like I read an entry and then I remember where I was when I wrote it, and what I was doing, and its just a really weird feeling that I can't explain. But it was a lot of fun.

This was an inspirational moment brought to you by allie:-)

Back to School

Well, school is definatley nothing like I expected. Its better in some ways, and worse in others... but its definatley not what I expected. I'll take you through my school day and let u know what it was like :

Period 1 - Gym
Gym is never any fun on the first couple of days, you just sit there and do absolutely nothing. Luckily I have adam and erin and rob and a couple of other people in that class so I'll have some people to talk to.

Period 2 - Chem
What I wouldn't give to be back in the enriched classes with all of my friends... I'm a little scared for this class. Its CP level and its all Juniors and me, and matt but i think that he's switching out sometime soon. Long story short, I don't know anyone in there at all and I'm going to have to make some friends fast or else I'll be bored out of my mind. Also, you don't realize it as much when you're actually a part of it, but the enriched students are such a tight-knit group. I miss knowing all of them and being in their classes, I don't even get to see half of my old friends during the day. I miss you guys!

Period 3 - Algebra 2
The teacher for this really is an awesome teacher, you can tell right off the bat. Unfortunatley, I don't have that many friends in this class either. Yeah, I have some aquaintences, like people I would say hi to in the halls, but no one that I really talk to. Then again, maybe that combined with the teaching habits of the teacher will actually make me learn something in math this year. So I'm optimistic; Lonely, but optimistic.

Period 4/5 - Personal Keyboarding
For those of you that didn't hear about my elective messup already, here's a synopsis of the deal: They put web page on my report card but forgot to tell me that i actually didn't have it and that i had a study hall instead (yeah its really screwed up) so i need the credits and i don't really want a study hall so i spent almost this whole period in guidence trying to fix that up. Me and gillule went back and forth with a couple of options, like even changing my entire schedule around so that not even one class was the same. In the end, I just took personal keyboarding to get my computer course out of the way. Gillule says he's sorry for the mess up and that he owes me the elective of my choice for definate sure next year, which is alright. Personal keyboarding class was ok, I know a couple of people in that, but jeezus the teacher is a devil woman. But I can type so i think that I'll be ok, should be an easy A.

Period 6/7 - English
okay, HERE'S where my day finally starts to go uphill. I'm back in the enriched course with a bunch of my friends, and I can already tell the teacher is nice enough, plus the class seems actually interesting. And funny too. This could definatley be one of the highlights of my day.

Period 8 - Lunch
This was DEFINATLEY not what i expected lol. I knew that a lot of people were in my period but for some odd reason i forgot that they were all friends. So I didn't get to sit with the big group of people that i was planning on sitting with cause the table filled up too quickly. It's me, sam, rena, jess, and a couple of other kids that i dont know that well, and occasionaly janelle but i think thats only cause she feels bad for us lol. I hope i get to sit with the other table every now and then though, cause a bunch of my friends that i never get to see otherwise are over there. Maybe I'll hunt for josh tomorrow and go bug him lol.

Period 9 - USIE
This class is another highlight of my day! Theres just a whole bunch of awesome people in here that are going to make the class so much fun i can tell. I think Garb can tell too cause it feels like she gave up on having a serious class as soon as we all walked in the door... or at least as soon as matt simonik walked in the door, eather or :-p. Anyway, for those who don't know, I need at least an 80 average in this class or else I'm toast with garber, my parents, AND Mr. Poye. Cause I'm only in there on probation. But I can definatly do it.

Period 10 - Spanish
Rachel and I already know that we are going to learn absolutley nothing in this class. It's just a given. The class is all kids who won't pay attention, a teacher that doesn't demand any attention, and besides that, i never learn anything in spanish anyway. I'm just worried about the standardized tests cause they're going to be the same for each class and i think that my class has to be the worst off. Which is also a big change cause i had a really good teacher last year and was at the top of the curve instead of the bottom and sinking quickly.

Well, that's my day in a nutshell, I just wanted to get down the basics in here so i can pick up with any one of these and whoever reads this will know what I'm talking about. how was YOUR first day? You can use my comments section to complain or just to say how awesome it was, i don't care:-p

Guess whos back...

Guess who's back! Back again... Allie's back! Tell a friend!
Wow I really haven't written in here in such a long time! I have to catch all of you guys up on my entire summer don't I? Lets see, I think that I left off when I left for camp.

Camp was AMAZING. I have to start off thanking everyone that made the experience such a great one -- Thank You!!!! The otha LTs were absolutley the best group of LTs ever. Me, Shannon, Ava, Marisa, Conor, Nick, Kat, Izzo, Vegan, Lindsay, Karen, Alana, Catherine, Desirae. I would list all of our insiders here, but they would be the only people that actually get them, and I might scare my other friends. so. But yes camp was amazing, and I also told some of my campers I'd give them a "holler" , so hey to Lizzy, Apache 5 girls, and all my other chepiquitas!

Camp was great, and when I got home I was post-camp depressed for a long time. Luckily, my family and mel were goign down to LBI for a week! That was also a lot of fun; We started the week out getting caught in a flash flood at Fantasy Island, and ended the week being EskimLOSERS. And although they would never actually read this journal, I have to give a major shoutout to the amazingly hot surfer guys, thanks for just being georgous and giving me some sort of distraction while I was trying to finish my summer reading books. Which I actually did finish already. Proud of me?

When I got home from LBI, that was basically the end of the summer for me. I went clothes shopping and got some cute skirt outfits which is amazing for me cause anyone that knows me knows that I almost never wear skirts. I also did a lot of hanging out with friends, like when sam and lisa taught me how to put on makeup and last night, when me and nicole weirded out lisa, sam, and jeff with our killer inside jokes (peanut butter, bikes, honda smooish...too many more!). Tonight I'm going to a Yankee game to watch my yanks beat detroit, should be a lot of fun. Somebody has to watch the Giants game for me though, I didn't want to miss that. Oh well though, I'll gladly give up watching the Giants game for BOX SEATS at yankee stadium :-D. Starting tomorrow night is the Jewish holidays, and those last until the last day of summer, sunday, and then its Back To School.

Well, there you have it: A map to almost my entire summer. Not that you cared, but you didn't have to read it if you didn't want to. Oh, and for my friends at temple who didn't get the news, Allie IS coming back to hh this year, my dance class got moved from wednesday to monday!! Aren't you happy!! Should we have a party to celebrate? no? Well a girl can dream...

Anyway, I'll see all of you long-lost friends at school on monday, and I'm out for now!

Not too many people know the real you, as you almost always keep your emotions locked up inside. You have a devout belief in God yet can be, at times, curiously analytical. Even still, you have passion and longing teaming beneath your surface that only a select few will ever know. You tend to deny your loneliness.

Take the Which Poet are You? Quiz - brought to you out of boredom and pretention!

DPS

Lets talk about the Dead Poets Society. Its a movie that me and Adam watched last night and wow its really really good. It makes you think so much. About life, and about death, and about what it really is that we should all be doing. Carpe Diem, Sieze the Day. Because you arent going to get another today. Sure you'll get a tomorrow, but todays gone. And eventually you're going to die and your tomorrows will be gone with the todays. Philosophical, huh>? It was really good i recommend it.

"Truth is like a blanket that always leaves your feet cold. You push it, stretch it, it'll never be enough. Kick at it, beat it, it'll never cover any of us. From the moment we enter crying, to the moment we leave dying, it'll just cover your face as you wail and cry and scream. "

"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race and the human race is filled with passion. Medicine, law, business, engineering... these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love...these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, 'O me! O life!...of the questions of these recurring, of the endless trains of the faithless...of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life? Answer. That you are here...that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse.' That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be? "

What do these lines mean to you? What will your verse be?

A Weekend in NY

So Friday night after I went to temple like a good Jew, the Singer family headed up to the Catskills in upstate NY. My grandfather lives there in the summer and hes got awesome property, its a pretty big piece of land right on Swan Lake. Its not so good for swimming because no one is all that sure about the cleanliness of the lake, but its great for fishing (if you know where to go... which i dont.... but i still caught a fish this weekend!).
What I love most about my grandfather's house is the history behind it... my dad and his brother and sister built some of it, and its just basically where my dad spent his summers as a kid which is really cool. It must be cool for him to go back.
My uncle and his girlfriend are coming out to the lake in early september and im trying to convince my mom to let us go up there when they're up there... moms not too fond of the place tho cause its sorta like camp: dirty and old. But i see beyond that, maybe she doesnt. Idk... anyway i want to go up when my uncle and his girlfriend are there cause his girlfriend Susan always takes us horseback riding and thats a lot of fun! Well, when u have a horse that likes to actually MOVE
(long story that I dont feel like typing, but im guess u can assume most of it.)

CAMP! yes, you have to hear more about it. Well, you dont have to. You can easily close this window and stop reading my journal. Thats what the little "X" button up there ^ is for. You're still here? Okay then I'm gunna keep going... I cant wait to go i cant wait to go i cant wait to go! I keep having dreams about it... Actually, the last dream i had about it was more about Amy Maya running around the camp eating famous amos cookies and wearing the crown of the queen of england. But the other ones were a little less... interesting. They were mostly about the kind of stuff that the LTs are going to have to go through. I hope its impossibly hard, and challanging. I said that already. Lemme think of a new angle to talk about camp...
There are new cabins up there! Go to campmason.org to check them out! They're georgous! All pine wood and everything... Hi G! G sang me a lullaby the other day and it helped me go to sleep. Thanks dude, your a pal! I'm making ur birthday present right now actually! Cya soon! Hey Amanda! If you see this, email me cause i havent talked to you in forever and i cant wait to see u at camp! hey Jesy! I'll see u soon and make sure u bring lots of rice cakes and vegan condoms! nick! my man! whats up dude? Matt I miss you what the hell is wrong with you, not coming back to camp? I LOVE YOU HUBBY! Hey to skitini, boyer, all my sisters friends... and all my other co-Lts to be... Steve dude u cant see this cause ur at camp but when u come home let me know and we'll go for a walk, k?

Well, thats enoguh writing for one day. I'm going to go and watch Dogma on Comedy Central now. Chao!

Singing in the Rain

Have I written in this journal about Singing in the Rain yet? If I havent, I'm actually watching it now. I absolutely love this movie and if you havent seen it you have to come over one day and we will watch it. Its got all the greats (that u probably havent heard of) like Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O'connor... and some awesome tap dancing numbers too! So if you care, come watch it! And if you dont care, come watch it anyway cause you will care lol.

I'm going over Monicas tomoro for a hair-dying party ... I'm doing the red streak thing again! I did that... two years ago maybe? Maybe last year, I don't really remember all that well. But it looked different and good, so i figure ill do it again. I was going to dye my whole head red, but i chickened out of that... I had the dye in my hair and then freaked out and rinsed it. So now my hair has got this reddish-blondish (from lemon juice and sun) look to it. I kinda like it! I wanna get it cut tho cause its getting sooo long and unmanageable. Definatley cant manage it at camp so i need a hair cut... badly.

Speaking of camp, I CANT WAIT TO GO! Lately all of my long-lost friends from camp have been talking a ton cause we all have the same thing in common: We wanna be there already so baddd! I'm going to be an LT this year! Great, I get to boss aro-- I mean watch little kids for two weeks! Lol really I can't wait, you'll be hearing a lot about camp in here until I go. I still dont have the address for you to write to me, or the email address for you to, well, email me, but ill get it sooner or later i promise!

A lovely summer week:-)

It really hasnt been a bad week at all! Other than when I got grounded from the fireworks... and im still sorta grounded... but other than that! Me and Lisa and Mel had a really cool conversation on lisa's driveway maybe 2 or three nights ago. We talked about live EVERYTHING there is to talk about ever and we were being really profound about it too. Like, we talked about the stars and the universe and death and life and everything like i said lol. But it was awesome. Im not sure if i wrote about me and mel going to the beach so ill mention it again... me and mel went to the beach! It was really awesome and i got tan baby lol, i also got chocolate fudge like i do everytime i go to point pleasant. The water was literally freezing tho, and me and mel were crazy to go in but we did and my toe went numb and turned white: It was really gross actually.

Not much else is new except for that I tried to dye my hair red yesterday. Youre supposed to leave the dye in your hair for 15 minutes, but after 2 minutes i looked in the mirror and freaked out and washed it out. My hair's got this really cool looking red tint now, but its not red red. Monica really wants me to dye it lol, but idk: I have to think about it and find out for sure how long its gunna last. But I was thinking the other day, and lets say that I live to be like 110. I'm going to spend 110 summers being a brunette. Boring! So maybe I'll just spend 109 summers being a brunette and one being a redhead... I just hope it looks ok!

I'm leaving for camp on July 21st, and you all have to write to me, even if I dont know you, cause i feel like a loser when i dont get mail lol. Its really easy! You can even email me. I'm not sure of the address tho, so I'll find that out and get back to you. <marquee> I just starting learning how to use HTML, so you all are going to have to deal with me as i experiment with all the different stuff I can do!

~Allie</marquee>

Summer!

Hey guys, sorry I haven't written in here in a while. The sites been down and, quite honestly, i havent had anything amazing to write about. But now I do! So I will!

Well last weekend was my dance recital and if you came to see it, I'm sure u will agree that there are some talented classes that looked amazing! Unfortunately, I wasn't in any of them... But I will be! Thank G-d for all those seniors who graduated this year, im moving up baby! On the subject of dance, I'm taking more classes next year but I can't decide between trying jazz or ballet. Its possible that I can take both if i agree to pay for one of them (which I will because added to the invitational class, that gives me enough to get a free class so why not?). But if that doesn't work out, like if i dont get a job and cant pay for it, i don't know which one to try. I really want to try ballet but i guess im afraid not so much that I won't be good at it (even though i most certainly wont at first) but mostly because I'm afraid that I won't like it. I mean, am I just pushing myself into more classes because I want to be at the studio more, because I'm trying to impress Kathleen, what? Or am I really doing them because I want to. Thats something I'll have to think about for a while. All I know is that I really want to try a jazz class but I don't like any of the the classes that my school has to offer. But it would be a pain to go to HDA for jazz and KAD for everything else although i do know some people that do that. I don't think i would want to tho. Oh well, enough about dance for those who are tired of it.

WAIT one more thing about dance and then I'll talk about something else, I swear: I got my new tap shoes today! Miss Kathleen gave me a call and said they were in and i went to go pick them up and they're BEAUTIFUL. you gotta see 'em.

Okay so it's summer people! For some reason, it really doesn't feel like it to me. I mean, I know that its summer the season cause its hot and im going swimming and to the beach yada yada... but as for school being out, my brain still just doesn't get it. Not that I think I'm going to school still, just that I dont think of summer as a long vacation yet... I guess I'm just not in the entire "relax" mode yet. But it will come as soon as I hit the beach with Mel tomoro!

Well, thats about all I have to say for now: More some other time!

Prooving the Already Known...

This was written during an extremely dull math period with my lovely teacher, the all-around fun-gal... shoot me.

Given: Everyone is napping, doodling, or staring into space.
Prove: Math Sucks.

Assume that math did not suck. This would mean that the majority of the students in the room would not be incredibly bored according to the Boredom Theorem. Boredom results in a lack of interest in the surroundings going on about a person as by the definition of boredom. This would result in napping, doodling, or staring off into space as illustrated by the Symptoms of Boredom Postulate. Because it is given that everyone in the room is either napping, doodling, or staring into space (with an exception of a select few defined by the "I have no life" Theorem), it is proven that everyone in the room is bored. Therefore, according to the equation of "Boredom = Your Surroundings Suck", math does indeed suck.

Sudden Inspiration

Anyone that has even met me for a minute or less knows that I enjoy tap dancing. But i dont think I ever really saw what tap could do until last night.

There was a once-a-year tap show in NYC last night called the Tap Extravaganza. Basically, it was every person in the entire tap community comming together and just showing off their skills. Sure, it was a show with a stage and an audience, but the audience was just so involved. I think my dance teacher put it really well: It was a show within a show. For example, there was this really funny singer/dancer whose name was Maybel Lee. She started to sing her song, and a baby in the audience started to cry. She gave it the dirtiest look I've ever seen and said "fine, you wanna do it?" and the baby didnt stop and Maybel said "I'll wait." it was really hysterical.

It was awesome how everyone just seemed to know eachother. I never realized how the Tap community is so tight. People came from all over the world just to attend this thing, and it wasn't that big. But the people there were from NY, Israel, NJ, Ireland... it was awesome how when they came together no one was judged by anything except the sounds coming out of their taps. If only the world was like that, right?

I left last night with such a sudden inspiration to make myself better at tap. They made it look so easy that I believe I can learn, and although i know that its gunna take a lot of work, I'm going to do it. Because I want nothing more to be able to make the sounds that Savion Glover, Brownie, and all of the others made. They all just seemed so comfortable together, outsiders were welcomed in, and everybody was just connected together because they all support the rhythm.

I really don't think any person could have possibly gone to that show and not come back with a newfound appriciation. I've got to recommend that everyone should go to a tap-dance performance at least once in their lives. Anyone that is into jazz music will find themselves in that, anyone into tap will find themselves in dancing, and anyone that didnt think they were a part of any of it will find themselves in everything going on around them.

RIP Dr. James "Buster" Brown.
